Highheeled Shoe
Another technical demonstration is this high-heeled shoe. It was on a pedestal mounted to a turntable connected to a computer rigged to shoot in 10-degree increments. Complicated, it was designed to obtain 36 images. What for? In order to create a spinning catalog view for internet shopping, you need this setup. Clever.

Better than the camera spinning around it! I guess they have them for cars too since you often see them in 360 degree motion ads.

For product shots, catalogs and so forth a spinning turntable would be helpful. For cars, I would opt for an image stabilized HD video/camera rig. You see them at weddings all the time now. At the Photo Plus Show, Nikon and Canon demonstrated elaborate rigs this year for the first time. At my niece’s wedding last year the photography team had a mounted rig on a Canon DSLR tasked to just shoot video. A good way to tell would be to see if there is any horizontal movement/tilt as the product spins. For a car I might prefer this motion coupled with a changing zoom view. Thanks for your comment.
