Cone Flowers

Cone flowers crept into my consciousness when my wife purchased some for our container deck garden on the premise that they would bloom perennially. The problem is that she would cut them down or weed them out because they looked like weeds before they would bloom each year. Yeah.

  2. How funny, Victor. I take it your wife is not the green thumb in the family! Cone Flowers. I do not believe I have ever seen them unless these look much bigger than they are. I have seen a kind of daisy that looked like these. I am not sure the “cone” was as tall though. This is an interesting composition. It is not easy to photograph a “field” of any kind o flowers.

    • These are unusual flowers for me but are much more prevalent since the first one that I saw in my container garden. I have seen them in Central Park and in Maine. I have a previous post on a cone flower and monarch butterfly on 12/15/11. Your observation is much like mine. They look like wilted daisies, hence the cone is the focus. The blossoms are long lasting in this state.
