Word and Image

Living in New York City, there are many opportunities for street photography and photojournalism. On Saturday I attended an Occupy Wall Street protest. There are two  much longer posts with slideshows in my other blog. I just wanted to mention that street photography may not be artistic but should certainly be documentary. This young woman was arrested. Plain clothes police officers detained and arrested her. NYPD was present as uniformed officers, supervisory officers, scooters, vans, and auxiliary officers. She had no shoes, just socks that can be ascertained in other photos. After arrest she sat, forcing the police to carry her to a police van.
