Word and Image

Devil Ray

Part of the challenge in underwater photography is that your subject may appear suddenly. And there you are without warning in the wrong camera settings. You cannot light the open ocean with a single strobe. Yeah, try to light a sports stadium with a little point and shoot camera flash. So! Six rays came gliding majestically past me. One way and no stopping, I was awed and fumbling for a camera setting. I got off two images before they were out of sight. Six! Well I got an image. IMG_6484-2I wish there were more but then again this post is not about fish that got away. So I was there and here is the proof. No matter what any image is inadequate to portray the majesty of their passing.
