Maasi warrior

DSC08280

Culturally, red is said to scare lions. So, red is common to most garments of a Maasai warrior. But I detect a tartan influence. Scottish? This photo was snapped in Delaware. It was chilly. Beneath the cloak was a warm set of western style clothing. How does a well dressed Maasai warrior dress? I don’t know. I was too shy to ask.

  1. A traditional Maasai warrior definitely doesn’t don western style clothing. I would know, because I’m from Kenya. Awesome post Victor, and keep up the great content

    • Thank you. I would not know. This gentleman and his companion were introduced in the audience at a concert we attended at the university. They were visiting guests on a cold night in the spring. I presume they adjusted their clothing to the weather. Once again, thank you for you comment and insight.

      • You are most welcome Victor. The Maasai are quite the intriguing people I must say. The fact that the young men have to go into the wild in a group of around 7 and successfully hunt and kill a Lion in order to be initiated into being Morans (warriors) is simply extraordinary!
