Outside our doors

This does not happen in a democracy. An election is held. There is a winner and a loser. We have all lost today as our current emperor has instigated mayhem, mischief, and irreparable damage to our democracy, constitution, and freedom as Americans.

trea·son/ˈtrēzən/ Learn to pronounce nounnoun: treason; noun: high treason; plural noun: high treasons

  1. the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

trump has committed treason. When do we say, “Enough is enough?” Capital punishment. We are beyond “lock him up.” I have lived under presidents I did not like. Voting does not always give you what you want. But we have been a democracy until now.

de·moc·ra·cy/dəˈmäkrəsē/ Learn to pronounce nounnoun: democracy

  1. a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and …
[USC02] 18 USC Ch. 115: TREASON, SEDITION, AND …

WE are beyond impeachment now. The act of denying the majority- > 7 million voters turned trump out – is simple treason. We do not need to prosecute the civil war once again. I believe in this democracy. Let justice prevail. Let the guilty be punished. LOCK HIM UP! would be a start but not the endpoint. Reality TV has no part in running our country.

Epilogue… to be continued

Happy endings are hard to come by. The short version – we met in third grade. I was invited to play at her house. She told her mother she was going to marry me – then. We were in the same classroom from 3rd to 6th grade. We orbited but were never together from third till the eighth grade. I left for New York. Our paths diverged till 2008. A few feeble emails and she was gone again. Then in 2014 she emailed me once more. I was in Saudi and she was “nosey.” The fireworks were instant! The wedding took another five years. Happy? Delirious! Okay! So, now you have to figure out where we are (who’s who) in the BxW photo. This is Colleen’s dream come true. I hope it lasts a long time to come. It makes me smile so big to write this and to look at the pictures. Save for the BxW, there’s not another picture of us till now.

You might laugh. The marriage was predicated on the comment, “We’re not going to any 50th reunion unless we’re married!” I had never been. I didn’t even graduate with these guys. Married! We entered late to the pre-party. I was embarrassed. We got a standing “O” when we walked in. I guess some people are hard to forget.

Done

On this propitious day – is it? – I post for you this sign. We pass it on the way to the veterinary appointment. We live in a trump county – a trump county, not country. The crazies will have to go back into the woodwork. Alas, they are with us and ever shall be. There is no more room to be coy. Tell them they are not welcome whenever they come out to the light of day. They will not be gone in my lifetime but they are most unwelcome. Unfortunately, this is harder done than said. Sadly, I have some trump friends… fewer but still…
