Water sports

Put kids together with a water hose and there is sure to be fun. My mission was to get a photo. And the secondary concern was to avoid any situation in which the hose was pointed at my camera. Joy! Pure joy! Yup, it was chilly early spring. The kids got wet. Poor Rory was an ice cube when we dried her. She didn’t mind. And I got the shot I sought. Lucky me!DSC04460

First Snow

img_0864

After the first snow of the year, we were headed over to Boulder. It was a nice idyllic scene. I suppose a panorama would be more dramatic. I apologize. I’m a casual photographer. So, I do not travel with a tripod and wait all day for the ideal conditions. Shoot and scoot. It keeps peace with my travel companions too. I’m quite good at shooting while driving. Kids, don’t try this at home…

You want early morning light?

I hate to be up and on the road at dawn. But we were on a mission. So, out. I must say that the light was spectacular and worth the ride up the road to see what Mother Nature had wrought.img_1119

Bottle of Beer

I misread the menu. The symbol .30 was not alcohol content. The content was 17%. Yeah! It was the price! They served it up in a wine glass. It’s a craft beer brewed by Avery. I didn’t catch how special it was. It was served up in a wine glass because it’s “aromatic.” And, watch out for the “dregs.” To say the least, I was impressed by our bill at the end of a fine meal. And to be sure it was a memorable beer. If I had but known, I’d have taken a better picture. To paraphrase, “We drank our meal…”

Schacht Spindle Company

We took a tour of a factory. Schacht Spindle Company started making spindles and are since famous for their weaving products of which they make well known and well regarded looms and spinning wheels. Barry, the President cordially met us when we showed up unannounced. He personally gave us a tour. The hand made products are made and assembled with highest regard to quality. Improvements are constantly being made. It’s a fine operation. There’s something nice about watching the care and craftsmanship so abundantly on hand as we toured. The sheep were photographed, reproduced and later painted from a trip to Scotland many years ago. Many thanks Barry; we were so impressed.
