We need a bigger table
This holiday season things are returning to normal in an abnormal state. Covid rages and 1000 people a day die in this country – still. No worries. Everyone is virus fatigued. Masks are off. Well, not quite. We went to a Xmas concert. Certainly, many venues recommend and suggest mask. Many ignore masks if it is optional. Stupid? Ignorant? Or Republican? Eating out? Obviously, you don’t wear a mask. Safe? Who knows? There are a lot of moving parts in a restaurant. It’s a risk. At this time of year, our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. And, we need a table that is bigger than just for two.

My post yesterday had technical problems. Eh? It happens to us all. Lots of people are skeptical of the Covid vaccine. Why? All the other mandatory childhood vaccines are good. Ya gotta have ’em in order to go to school. Maybe you’re special. Or, maybe you’re dumb? Abbott got his – the vaccine and covid and monoclonal antibodies. There’s a lot of contradiction right there! WTF. 45? The would be trump – had covid (hospitalized!!) and monoclonal antibodies and the vaccine. Right, do what he said not what he did! Note: three vaccinated US Senators just tested positive for covid. Karma! It’s come ’round to bite your ass. Alabama, Mississippi and all the other “red states” are feeling the weight of covid. Pushin’ up daisies
Get vaccinated! It’s a fact that vaccination helps. Death is up in low vaccination rate states. It’s fact. Karma. People are rushing to get 3rd vaccines – booster. Meanwhile, in poorly vaccinated states, ICU space has run out. Get sick, show up, wait – there are no hospital ICU beds. Do it! Get vaccinated! Or, you may be pushin’ up daisies. I REPEAT! WE OUT OF ICU BEDS!
Can you read? How about look at pictures? Look! Covid infection hot spots vs low vaccination rate states. It matches. You may choose to ignore facts. That may result in sickness and death.

On the ground
Practical reality. Schools opened for face to face teaching. What’s going on? School. Is there social distancing? Who’s it for? To protect the teacher, or student, or both? It turns out there is no social distance in school. The kids are all over each other and all over the teacher. Enforce it? Hardly? You’d spend the day just reminding them to be distant, Distance is just not how little kids roll. Jules has 5th graders. They are naturally social. It’s just not happening (distancing). Words? Action? Practical? The reality is that everyone is mashed together again. So far it is working. No disaster to report. Pfewff!! As a general, (principal) you may order your teachers to do anything. On the ground chaos reigns and choices are made. You are given lemons, you make lemonade.
Bewildered

2020 will be remember for trump and Covid 19. Herd immunity? In the animal world, mink got it and we slaughtered 17 million. We would have killed them for their pelts without much fanfare or notice for the rich and wealthy to wear. How nuts is all of that? The number is stunning (to me). Danish farmers protested in a tractor demonstration in Copenhagen. Not many protests occur when the fur industry puts 17 million to death for coats. Was this article about money or animal life?
Could we get rid of Covid by killing off millions of the world citizens? Did it work for mink? Imagine if trump were king instead of a deposed wannabe. Herd immunity was a good idea no worse than killing 17 million mink out of hand? It’s an amazing world out there. Sometimes you gotta wonder if Mother Earth would be better off without a few billion humans. Reset. Climate change…..
