News of the day

My urban landscape now is traffic lights. I never realized that they can be confusing – especially when the lights outnumber the cars. My drive by? I drive by forsythia. I can even stop – on the road – to shoot them. it is sharp contrast to NYC where you are never alone. And, Ukraine remains on everyone’s mind. We were in the newspaper – local. There goes my WPP status. Yes, I’m a spin doctor now. BTW – the news journalist took our pic with my real camera. So, I posted a real shot back on April 10.

Counting the cars…

As long as we are on Simon and Garfunkel… counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike…. Colleen took this shot. Great shot! She was shooting to include the green arrows. ??? I don’t know. She got a quintessential shot of traffic in America! I’ve been there! And, on our return trip the GPS gods took us on a (lost) detour past St Vlad’s church on the hill. Sometimes random wandering is good! Note: you are never lost if you never put the car in reverse.

Meanwhile, back at home, the flowers … they are fewer as summer fades. It is time for the rose of Sharon to bloom. I have one this year. It is my harbinger to fall.

The Summer Knows – Barbra Streisand

… And if you’ve learned your lesson well
There’s little more for her to tell
One last caress
It’s time to dress
For fall

Today, it ain’t about the picture. This is generic. You been there? I have. Done that. Done as in past tense. It’s the Washington beltway. I don’t envy the poor souls traveling in the opposite direction. All my life I traveled from Manhattan to the suburbs to work (against the rush hour flow). Ok! But it was still a royal pain in the ass. You always encountered traffic. I paid extra toll to go through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel just so I wouldn’t have to battle the rude drivers merging in at the Brooklyn Bridge.

Nowadays I just go. Go! Yeah! I rarely have to sit and stew in traffic. Do you know how many hours I’ve done in my lifetime? Years! I’ve sat in my car literally for years. If you calculate the miles you’ve driven… Oh my! Yes! I have sat in the car for years. No s**t Sherlock. So, to all of you who still sit in traffic, my sympathies. I am free! Yes, occasionally I sit. Not often. Thank you. Have you guessed yet, that I’m pretty happy about that?
