Did you miss the 411?

My post yesterday had technical problems. Eh? It happens to us all. Lots of people are skeptical of the Covid vaccine. Why? All the other mandatory childhood vaccines are good. Ya gotta have ’em in order to go to school. Maybe you’re special. Or, maybe you’re dumb? Abbott got his – the vaccine and covid and monoclonal antibodies. There’s a lot of contradiction right there! WTF. 45? The would be trump – had covid (hospitalized!!) and monoclonal antibodies and the vaccine. Right, do what he said not what he did! Note: three vaccinated US Senators just tested positive for covid. Karma! It’s come ’round to bite your ass. Alabama, Mississippi and all the other “red states” are feeling the weight of covid. Hospital beds are all full. Hospital beds are all full. Hospital beds are all full. Hospital beds are all full. NO ROOM AT THE INN!!!!

Someone once told me – at any given time, only 25% of people are listening to you. 411

Giddy

It’s done. We have both completed two doses of the covid vaccine. It’s a relief! I feel bad for everyone still waiting. I am bewildered by those who believe the vaccine is not necessary. Our appointments were days apart. We celebrated the same way – a meal in a restaurant, distanced. Safe. I feel safer. Indeed, “safer” is s very good feeling.

We got one

Have I told you I hate needles? Ha ha, coming from a surgeon, you might laugh. But, I follow the rule: it’s better to give than receive. So!? When it came time to scheduling our Covid vaccines, it was a no-brainer (ha, ha, I was a brain surgeon too), that Colleen would be scheduled first. I could not get our appointments on the same day. This set off controversy and argument: How chivalrous it was of me to get Colleen’s appointment first! Andy got his second appointment and did not get one for Kathy. Lee got her own without help from me.

And when my (first) vaccination was canceled/delayed, I thought I was in the clear and off-the-hook. No such luck. I got another appointment a week later. (Mike got it for me.) After each vaccination we celebrated in a restaurant. The second was an Indian buffet. Interesting times, the buffet was served. We pointed at each dish we wished to sample. Done! That was interesting indeed. Meanwhile, we have appointments for the second shot. I am not looking forward to the dates.

They got a name! Vaccine selfie! Elvis in 1956 at the Ed Sullivan Theater. Polio vaccine. I’ve had one!

Common sense… idiocy

I recall my mother (any/or all mothers) saying, “If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you follow them?” Or, the story from the movie “Jaws” in which Robert Shaw says, “We were being rescued a few at a time. I was so close between being rescued or eaten by a shark. I’ll never wear a life jacket again.” Hey?

Mix and match? NO! That would be a trumpian move as we await our turn in line. Oh?! Republican? You didn’t see how to influence/buy your way to cut the line? Don’t do it! Don’t cut and do not ever mix your vaccines. Off label use (going against manufacturers recommendation) might work and might not. It’s a risk, stupid, not a smart one. Don’t do it. Jumping from the bridge is sure to result in some harm. Mixing metaphors might not hurt but mixing vaccines is stupid, Stupid. I join in admonishing against utter stupid.
